Group Pestana

Pestana Group pioneered in Europe the concept of selling weekly intervals in mixed-use hotel and holiday ownership properties. The Group believed that this concept needed a long term vision which would be best served by integrating holiday ownership into existing hotel properties. By including the professional management skills and a full range of facilities associated with hotel properties, holiday ownership customers were given the guarantees and credibility needed to make a long term commitment with Pestana.

 In 1985 sales began at the Madeira Beach Club which is integrated into the 5 star Pestana Madeira Carlton Hotel. On average 1000 couples join the Pestana family each year by acquiring weekly intervals at a Pestana holiday ownership resort and the owner base has grown to over 25,000 families among 24 different nationalities. The number of holiday ownership properties in Madeira and the Algarve has grown to 13 and include over 910 Studios, one and two bedroom luxury apartments. The objective has always been to establish a long term relationship with these owners by offering a quality product backed by excellent service and professional management.

Based on the success of this concept, in 2001 the Group launched it into four of it’s resorts in Brazil and is now recognised as a major pioneering force within the tourism industry on the South American continent.

The Group’s emphasis remains on providing quality accommodation backed with a distinctive and innovative theme. Following feedback from owners, we saw a need for a top-end private residence club that offers weekly intervals of ownership to a select niche of owners. This product will cater to owners who are looking for quality residential style accommodation equipped and maintained to the highest levels. Sales have begun at two residence clubs integrated into the Pestana Grand and the Pestana Palms Hotels on Madeira. The clubs are restricted to ten units respectively. At the Pestana Grand Residence Club some units enjoy their own private pools.

Growth in the holiday ownership sector remains buoyant in the Algarve where the Pestana Alvor Park recently opened to wide acclaim. This new resort followed on the amazing success of Clube de Ferias and Alvor Beach Club both linked into the 5 star Pestana Alvor Praia Resort. Growth is also evident at the Pestana Viking Hotel where an €8 million refurbishment has been completed. We have also commenced sales of a new resort called the Dom Joao II beach Club that is fronted by the renowned Tres Irmoas beach in Alvor

Over the years, Pestana Group has received awards and distinction from Resorts Condominium International (RCI) the world’s largest holiday exchange company. During 20 years, we have affiliated 18 holiday ownership resorts in Portugal and Brazil with RCI giving members the opportunity to use their weeks to exchange into a large selection of quality resorts worldwide. Our chairman- Dr Dionisio Pestana was inducted into the RCI Hall of Fame for his significant contribution to the holiday ownership industry in Europe.

The Pestana Group has grown to become a major force in the tourist sector and in the future it will be focussing attention on major European capital cities. This is evidenced with the acquisition of a site in central London,U.K. A premier 200 unit hotel is being built and is scheduled to open in September 2009. Elsewhere in the world, projects are being studied in various parts of Asia and on the African continent with further expansion also planned in South America.
